WSJT was first introduced in 2001 and has been updated many times.  The principal new features of recent versions are listed below in reverse chronological order.  Click here to see a full history of program updates back to version 2.0.

5.9.7  "Quick decode" and other enhancements motivated by use of JT65A on the HF bands.

5.9.6  JT65 waterfall display bandwidth expanded to 4 kHz, and other enhancements.

5.9.5  Major improvements to the JT65 Deep Search decoder and to JT65C (mostly used for EME at 1296 MHz).  Other minor enhancements, especially for JT6M mode.  New WSJT6 User's Guide and Reference Manual.

5.9.3, 5.9.4  Maintenance releases, click here for details.

5.9.2 WSJT is now an Open Source program and runs on Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD.  This version has a number of enhancements (including a built-in JT65 simulator for testing), and several bug fixes.

5.9.0  Full release with many new program features.  Bugs found in version 5.8.6 have been fixed.

5.8.6  Beta release of what will become WSJT 6.0.  Multi-threaded program architecture, with many new features and an entirely new user interface (made to preserve the basic look and feel of previous versions, however). 

4.9.8  Several minor bugs fixed, click here for details.
4.9.7  Added KC4 to the list of supported DXCC prefixes.
4.9.6  Support for long callsigns like ZA/PA2CHR and messages like "VK7MO K1JT RRR" in JT65 mode, and bug fixes.

4.9.2  Introduces a new CW mode for EME and a new JT65 decoder about 4 dB more sensitive than previous versions.

4.7.0  Includes version 2.0 (build 213) of Spectran, by I2PHD and IK2CZL.  WSJT and Spectran can run simultaneously.

4.6.1  Full release of Version 4.6.  Much improved AFC in JT65 modes, new user manual, and many other enhancements.

4.5.0  Soft-decision Reed Solomon decoder for JT65; new modes FSK441B and FSK441C, with FEC features.

4.3.4  New modes JT65B and JT65C, with wider tone spacing.

4.0.0  New mode JT65, with forward error correction.  JT44 dropped from this version.

3.8.1  Many small enhancements and bug fixes.  This is the latest released version that supports JT44.

3.6.4  Several improvements to JT6M.

3.0.0  Full release of WSJT 3.0 with 50-page User's Guide and Reference Manual.
